Currently Dirk v. Diringshofen is employed as lawyer in the office Eschborn/Frankfurt/Main of Luther lawfirm in the service line Intellectual Property / Information Technology. His area of work covers legal advice in all questions related to or concerning industrial property rights (such as national trademarks, Community Trademarks, IR-marks, design patents, patents, copyrights etc.) and license law, IT-law (software licenses, e-commerce, internet law, data protection law) as well as press and media law. He also frequently works in the fields of (unfair) competition law and with general terms and conditions. Since he joined the lawfirm als lawyer Dirk v. Diringshofen works in close, direct contact with the clients.
As part of his activities Dirk v. Diringshofen has been part of numerous projects of national as well as international projects - covering areas such as outsourcing, software-development and -licensing, development and execution of intellectual property protection strategies on national and international levels, trademark applications, trademark protection, industrial property transfer etc.
In addition to the traditional work as lawyer representing clients in formal procedures (including at the courts), giving legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts Dirk v. Diringshofen regularly is active for the lawfirm giving presentations. In fall 2006 he represented Luther lawfirm as faculty member at the International IP/IT Law School for the lawfirm's network in Amsterdam.
Prior to his time as lawyer with Luther as of September 2004 (back then still named Luther Menold) Dirk v. Diringshofen already had joined the service line IP / IT during the final stage of his training period, in fact even had prolonged is time there by one months during the waiting period for the aural segment of the second state exam (bar exam). The reasoning behind this decision was the opportunity to continue the specialization which he already began during his studies.
During his studies as of fall 1996 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, Germany Dirk v. Diringshofen already specialized in the fields of media law, e-commerce, internet law, copyrights and industrial property law while at the same time participating in numerous additional courses outside the core areas including "Accounting and Financial Report Analyzing for Lawyers" (held by WP StB Dipl.-Kfm. Wolfgang Zielke, one of the leading partners of KPMG in Germany).
The specialization was realized through a series of lectures, courses and seminars amongst others by Prof. Dr. Klaus Berg (at that time superintendent of the tv- and radio-station Hessischer Rundfunk / Hessisches Fernsehen (HR)), Prof. Dr. Tomas Brinkmann (at that time chief legal consultant of the before mentioned HR) and Prof. Dr. Mahrenholz (former German Supreme Court Judge). The specialization was also highlighted by the choice for the mandatory one month internship in the administration, which he spent with the Data Protection Agency of Hesse (Datenschutzbeauftragter). During his studies Dirk v. Diringshofen was also active as journalist and writer amongst other for the legal publisher Luchterhand Verlag.
